Edison BOE Extends District Superintendent Contract By A Year
The move came after district administrators unveiled the five-year strategic plan.

EDISON, NJ — The Edison Board of Education recently moved to extend the contract of current district Superintendent Edward Aldarelli.
This came after the administrators unveiled a five-year strategic plan for the school district and BOE members thought Alderelli being in charge would help with keeping the plan on track.
The motion to extend Aldarelli’s contract was made by BOE member Brian Rivera.

Rivera noted that the Superintendent would be taking on a big role in the strategic plan - this includes ensuring oversight, ensuring the action plans are followed and objectives are pursued, among other roles.
“Based on what I heard here, I’m looking at Eddie now as a New Jersey visionary superintendent,” Rivera said. “This role for you here is tough. It’s a five-year plan.”

Rivera then moved to extend Aldarelli’s contract by another year so he could establish the five-year strategic plan.
Two BOE members abstained, with the rest voting yes.
"I’m fortunate to be in this place, to be honest, I do believe things happen for a reason," Aldarelli said.
"I’ve been blessed with having great interactions and relationships with not only Board of Education members but with our administrative team too."
