Edison EMS, Bystanders Save Man Suffering Cardiac Arrest

The team arrived within 5 minutes of receiving the 911 call. The team effort helped save a life, officials said.

EDISON, NJ – Members of the Edison Emergency Services helped save the life of a man who was suffering a cardiac arrest.

On Monday, members of the EMS 6108 and Edison Fire Engine One were dispatched to Raritan Center after they received a call of a man suffering a cardiac arrest.

On arrival, the team found bystanders performing CPR on the man. They were also performing rescue breaths and has an AED device which had shocked the patient twice.

Members of the EMS 6108 then took over the resuscitation efforts along with the firefighters.

They then put on their AED and delivered a third shock after which the patient had a return of spontaneous circulation, officials said.

“The patient was then carried to the ambulance where ALS met the crew and assumed care. By this point the patient was talking and answering questions,” Edison EMS said.

“Kudos to the amazing bystanders on scene who did a fantastic job of starting lifesaving measures. This truly was a team effort to save a life and had an amazing outcome.”

The man is currently in stable condition in the hospital.
