Edison Firefighter Who Responded To 9/11 Dies At 76
Bruce J Gregory served the Edison community for 27 years.
EDISON, NJ — Retired Edison firefighter Bruce J Gregory died on Monday after a long battle with cancer, The Edison Firefighters Association said on Friday. He was 76.
Gregory was part of the team that responded to the Sept. 11 terror attack on the World Trade Center and worked on the “Pile” or Ground Zero.
He served the Edison community for 27 years. His two sons followed in his footsteps to become firefighters.

Born in Perth Amboy on Nov. 20, 1948, Gregory was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved spending time on Long Beach Island and enjoyed crabbing.
In 1966, he worked on the Teal on Staten Island and later worked part-time for the Captain John in Keyport and the Sea Pigeon in Perth Amboy, according to his obituary.

“Away from the sea, Bruce worked with and was a member of the Local 65 Carpenter’s Union in Perth Amboy,” his obituary said. “He ultimately found his vocation as a Firefighter with the Township of Edison.”
Visitation is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 16, from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m.
A Fire Department Service will be held at 7 p.m. at the Flynn & Sons Funeral Home in Fords NJ.
Funeral will be held Tuesday, Dec. 17, 10:30 a.m.at Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 620 Amboy Avenue in Edison. Burial will take place at Cloverleaf Cemetery, US Hwy 1 South & Route 35, Woodbridge.
