Edison Hosting Q&A Sessions For New Water Partnership Proposal
Interested in learning more about the proposed water and sewer takeover by Suez North America? There will be three information sessions.
EDISON, NJ — Edison will be hosting three question and answer sessions about the new, proposed water and sewage takeover by Suez North America.
Edison personnel and Suez representatives will be available to sit down one-on-one with property owners to ask questions and give more information about the proposal.
"My Administration wants our residents to have the most accurate, factual information about the many benefits and built-in safeguards included in our proposed partnership contract," Edison Mayor Thomas Lankey said. "This proposal will ensure that Edison retains ownership of its infrastructure. It ensures that water and sewer rates will remain stable. It continues to provide senior citizen rate-freezes for people 65 or older. And, it provides $851 million worth of necessary investments to repair and upgrade our aging water mains, sewer lines and pumping station."

The proposal has been controversial among Edison residents since it was announced at the end of February, with some residents expressing concerns over the cost of the partnership, and the long-term impacts on sewage rates.
The town council, the state Board of Public Utilities and the state department of Environmental Protection, and of Consumer Affairs, would need to approve the proposal before it could go into effect.
