Edison Man Charged A Second Time With Child Porn Possession

EDISON, NJ — An Edison man was charged Friday with possessing 100 child porn photos on his personal laptop, according to U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger.

Andrew Chu, 33, of Edison, is charged with one count of possession of child pornography.

Chu has been convicted for having child porn images in the past: He previously served eight months in federal prison in 2022 for child porn possession.

According to this criminal complaint filed against him:

Eleven months after he was released, Edison Police reported to his parole officer that Chu was trying to purchase children’s shoes on Facebook Marketplace. His parole officer then seized his laptop, where they found multiple online chats Chu had, including with one girl who told him she was 11 years old. Chu still continued to have a sexual conversation with her online, allege authorities.

Police said they also found sexual photos of underage girls on his computer.

If he is convicted a second time, he is facing 10 to 20 years in prison.

He appeared in Newark federal court last Thursday, and was detained.
