Rabbi Rivkin served as a vital bridge between elected officials and the community, particularly on Jewish matters.

EDISON, NJ - Edison has officially renamed the North 8th Courts as "Rivkin Courts" during a special ceremony on April 27, honoring the legacy of the late Rabbi Israel Rivkin.
Mayor Sam Joshi and the Township Council gathered to celebrate the community leader's years of dedicated service.
Rabbi Rivkin served as a vital bridge between elected officials and the community, particularly on Jewish matters. His advocacy led to the expansion of numerous community resources including the Eruv, parks, synagogues, kosher establishments, yeshivas, and mikvahs.

"I am grateful to have spoken to Rabbi Rivkin on a video-call prior to his passing to inform him that we would rename the courts in his honor," Joshi said. "Even from his hospital bed, Rabbi Rivkin continued to inquire about the well-being of his community in Edison."
Councilman Asaf Shmuel, who hand-delivered a Mayoral Proclamation to Rabbi Rivkin in Israel shortly before his passing, played a key role in the tribute.
