Edison Teen Arrested After 18 Car Burglaries: Police
Police say the teen was also wanted by the Prosecutor's Office on another burglary charge.
EDISON, NJ — An Edison teenager has been arrested in connection to 18 car burglaries this April, Edison police said.
Sean Michael Sweeney, 19, was arrested as he was walking towards the Edison Motor Lodge on April 30, police said. Officer Joseph DePasquale noticed Sweeny, who fit the description from a residential security video.
Police say Sweeny targeted cars along Stony Road, Kenlen Drive and Adele Court, and took cash and various personal items. He was previously arrested on April 6 for other car burglaries, but had been released on bail, police said.

Sweeny is being held at the Morris County Corrections Center. At the time of this arrest, he was also wanted on burglary charges from the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office.
"Our police officers actively investigate quality-of-life crimes, like car burglaries, just as carefully as they investigate more serious or significant crimes. We want all Edison resident to feel secure in their homes and to know their cars, parked outside, are safe," Police Chief Thomas Bryan said.
