The proposal is to create three new soccer fields in place of the existing softball fields, expanded parking along nearby roadways, and a parking lot in the southeastern portion of Angels Field.
The plot of land used to be owned by the US Army. Camp Kilmer was located here until it was deactivated in 1949.

In the 70s parts of Camp Kilmer were ceded to Edison. The Edison Angels Girls Fastpitch Softball League (Edison Angels) was then granted permission to use the Field to play recreational softball.
Over a 20-year period, the league expanded from one open field to five fenced fields with dugouts.
The Edison Angels have since closed down and no longer utilize the Field.
Edison now wants to convert the existing softball fields into three soccer fields for use by the Edison community at large. To accommodate increased use of the Field, the Township also plans to expand the available space for car parking at and around the Field.
The public meeting will be held in person at 100 Municipal Boulevard.
Written comments on the proposed application may be directed to Cheryl Russomanno, Township Clerk, crussomanno@edisonnj.gov, 100 Municipal Boulevard, Edison NJ, 08817.
