EDISON, NJ — An elderly woman was injured by a hit-and-run driver in Edison last week, and police are asking the public's help in locating the driver.

The woman, an 86-year-old, was struck while walking on Nevsky Street, near Park Avenue, at about 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1. Her family originally believed she fell while taking a walk, but doctors told the family the woman's injuries were consistent with being hit by a car. A police report was filed on May 3, police said.

The woman remains hospitalized at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick in critical condition with fractured ribs, internal injuries and a collapsed lung, police said.

Police have not been able to find residential or commercial security videos from the area to see what happened, police said. Anyone with information about the hit-and-run is asked to call the Edison Police Department at (732) 248-7400.
