FEMA Deadline Nears For Middlesex Co. Residents Affected By Ida

EDISON, NJ — Less than a week remains for Middlesex County residents to apply for federal disaster assistance. Those who had their properties damaged by the remnants of Hurricane Ida on Sept. 1, have until Monday, Dec. 6 to apply for assistance.

Federal disaster assistance can include money for rental assistance, home repairs, personal property losses, and other serious disaster-related needs not covered by insurance. Many Middlesex County towns including Edison, Metuchen, and South Brunswick suffered considerable damage due to flooding caused by Tropical Storm Ida.

Register for disaster assistance, update contact information, ask questions, get information about FEMA home inspections, or learn how to appeal a FEMA decision by visiting DisasterAssistance.gov. Residents can also call 800-621-3362 (TTY: 800-462-7585).

The following information should be available when ready to register:

  • Address of the damaged primary dwelling
  • Current mailing address
  • Telephone number
  • Social Security number
  • Insurance information
  • Total household annual income
  • Routing and account numbers for checking or savings accounts for direct deposit; and
  • A description of disaster damage and losses
