Here's How Much Snow Edison-Metuchen Saw On Friday

Snow fell overnight and continued through early Friday morning. An overnight snowstorm dumped several inches of snow across the County.

EDISON, NJ — The Garden State was blanketed in snow on Friday morning after a snowstorm blew through the region overnight.

As of Friday morning, Edison saw about 4.8 inches and Metuchen saw 4 inches of accumulation, according to the National Weather Service. The most snow in Middlesex County accumulated in Cheesequake, where 6.5 inches had built up by 8:40 a.m.

The winter weather advisory for both towns expired at 10 a.m. on Friday morning. The day will be mostly sunny, with a high near 33.

Here are the snow totals as of Friday for towns across Middlesex County, as reported by the National Weather Service:

  • Cheesequake: 6.5 in
  • East Brunswick Twp: 5.0 in
  • South River: 5.0 in
  • North Brunswick: 5.0 in
  • Metuchen: 5.0 in
  • Manalapan Twp: 5.0 in
  • Edison: 4.8 in
  • Sayreville: 4.6 in
  • Old Bridge: 4.5 in
  • Perth Amboy: 4.5 in
  • Old Bridge: 4.5 in
  • South Plainfield: 4.0 in

Over 300 tons of salt were dropped on Edison roads throughout the night, according to Mayor Sam Joshi. Around 70 crew members have been working to clear the streets and 58 snowplows were deployed.

In Metuchen, the Department of Public Works (DPW) salted all main thoroughfares throughout the night and began plowing roads around 6 a.m. "All streets should be plowed curb-to-curb by the end of the day. If they haven’t gotten to you yet, they will," Mayor Jonathan M Busch said in a Facebook message.

Additionally, DPW will continue to pick up all of the garbage and recycling throughout the northeast section of the Borough.
