Hospitalized Resident Dies Following Fire At Edison Senior Housing

One resident died Wednesday while the other is currently in stable condition, officials said.

EDISON, NJ - A resident who was hospitalized following a fire at a senior housing complex in Edison has died, according to officials.

A fire broke out at the Inman/Grove Senior Citizen Residence shortly after 6 p.m. on Tuesday night, resulting in the evacuation and displacement of 240 units, officials.

Two people were rushed to the hospital in critical condition and one of the residents died on Wednesday, officials said. The other resident is currently in stable condition. No other information is currently available.

The average age of residents living in the housing complex is 85. The township had coordinated overnight stays for residents in need.

At least 18 fire engines, four truck companies, two rescues, two air units, and 97 firefighters responded to this scene.

As of Wednesday, 185 units have been deemed safe for residents to return to.
