Hackensack Meridian Health is hosting a virtual panel discussion titled “Behavioral Addiction Trends in Children & Adults” on Friday, October 3 from 12 to 1:30 p.m.

Millions of Americans struggle with substance use and behavioral addictions. There are two main forms of addiction: substance use disorders and behavioral addictions, which include gambling, gaming, shopping, overeating, and other compulsive behaviors that can adversely interfere with daily life.

We invite you to join us on Friday to learn more about the different types of addiction, how they differ and what they have in common, and resources available for those seeking help for themselves or someone else. The speakers will be Dr. James Sherer, Interim Chief Medical Officer at Carrier Clinic and Hackensack Meridian’s Director for Addiction Services; Dr. Katharine Clouser, a Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital pediatrician and the president of the New Jersey Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics; Assemblywoman Margie Donlon, a physician who represents District 11; and Dr. Falisha Gilman, Co-Chair, Council on Advocacy, New Jersey Psychiatric Association.

The discussion will be moderated by Adam Beder, Vice President, Government Affairs for Hackensack Meridian Health.
