Kittens Left In Onion Bags At Metuchen Whole Foods
The Edison Animal Shelter is looking for more information on the abandoned kittens.
METUCHEN, NJ — Two kittens were abandoned at the Metuchen Whole Foods inside of onion bags, and the Edison Animal Shelter is looking for more information on the person that left them there.
The two kittens were found inside the bags the morning of Aug. 27, the animal shelter said, alongside a note asking someone to take them home. To make matters worse, this isn't the first time this woman as done this, the shelter says. This is the fifth time the woman has abandoned kittens, the shelter said.
"We wish she would just phone us to surrender kittens and ask for help spaying or neutering her pets. New Jersey has many low-cost clinics that offer those services. She does not have to leave them as 'free kittens.' Shelters like ours and rescue organizations are glad to help get kittens adopted," said township Animal Shelter staffer Amy Ray.

The kittens are just eight-weeks old, shelter officials said. Both are uninjured. "These two domestic short-hair, dilute-tortoiseshell kittens are cute, friendly and in good health," Ray said.
Officials believe they were left there by an "older Asian woman" with short black hair. She was wearing a blue top and beige pants that day. After ditching the kittens, the woman walked up the Greenway towards Tano Mall, shelter officials said.
