Man Charged In Connection With Gunpoint Robberies Near Edison Train Station: PD
The robberies involved an armed man on a bicycle attempting to steal cash and valuables, Edison Police said.
EDISON, NJ — A 37-year-old Edison resident was arrested and charged in connection with three gunpoint robberies near Edison Train Station, Police Chief Thomas Bryan said Tuesday.
Lamond Ellis was charged following an investigation by Edison detectives.
The robberies occurred over several weeks, prompting detectives from the Edison Police Department's Criminal Investigations Bureau to begin a focused investigation after noticing a troubling pattern of similarities between the incidents, Bryan said.

The robberies, which occurred in the area surrounding the train station, involved an armed suspect on a bicycle attempting to steal cash and valuables from victims at gunpoint, according to Bryan.
On Friday, detectives from multiple units within the Department’s Criminal Investigations Bureau were conducting surveillance in the area. During their surveillance, they found Ellis wearing the same clothing that was worn during one of the robberies in the area and took him into custody.

He was charged with all three robberies and is currently lodged at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Facility, awaiting a detention hearing.
"This arrest is a direct result of the dedication and collaboration among the detectives from multiple units within our department," Bryan said. "We are pleased to have taken this individual off the streets and brought him to justice. Our department remains committed to ensuring the safety of our community."
Edison Mayor Sam Joshi also praised the efforts of the police department in swiftly solving the case.
“This arrest demonstrates our commitment to keeping Edison a safe place for residents, businesses, and commuters,” Joshi said.
