Metuchen Named One Of NJs Safest Towns
Metuchen was one of three Middlesex County towns to be among the safest, according to SafeWise.

METUCHEN, NJ — Metuchen was named one of New Jersey's safest towns in a new analysis of crime data complied by SafeWise.
The town came in as the 46th safest town, out of the 50 towns across the state SafeWise looked at. According to the study, Metuchen saw just .28 violent crimes and 12.75 property crimes per 1,000 people. Most of the crime in the town, nearly 98 percent, was property crime.
The only other Middlesex county towns in the top 50 were Highland Park (#4), and Monroe (#11).

Most of the safest cities identified by the company were in North Jersey. Sixty-two percent were in the northern part of the state. 30 percent were in central, and the remaining eight percent were in southern. The company did not say how it divided up the state.
The two safest towns were River Vale and Bernards Township. Neither town saw a violent crime in all of 2017. Overall, the safest towns tended to be, well, safe: they had violent crime rates 92 percent below the national average, and property crime rates 74 percent below the national average.
