Pedestrian Hit By Car, Breaks Both Legs: Edison PD
The pedestrian climbed over the center divider on Route 1 and was struck by a car, police said.
EDISON, NJ — A pedestrian had both legs broken when he was hit by a car on Route 1 Thursday morning, Edison police said.
Police say the man, a 61-year-old was crossing Route 1 near Lee's Motel, where he was staying, around 11 a.m. when the crash happened. The man crossed the southbound lanes, climbed over the center divider, and walked into the northbound lanes where he was hit, police said.
The man was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick to be treated for his broken legs. He was issued a summons for failing to observe the crosswalks.

The driver, a 64-year-old township man, was upset but not hurt, police said. He has not been charged.
Neither the driver nor the pedestrian were identified.
