An investigation determined the incident was "not a random act of violence," the prosecutor's office said.

Deleon knew the victim and had a previous relationship with him, their investigation showed, the office said.

She was then arrested without incident shortly after her evaluation at the hospital.

Deleon is currently being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center, pending the results of a pre-trial detention hearing, authorities said.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information or surveillance footage of the area is asked to call Cooney of the South Amboy Police Department at 732-721-0111 or Rosario of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-745-3289.
