County Completes Safety Enhancements On Edison’s Oak Tree-Warwick Intersection

The project is aimed at reducing preventable traffic-related fatalities in the neighborhood.

EDISON, NJ – The safety enhancements at the Oak Tree and Warwick Road intersection in Edison are now complete, Middlesex County and Edison announced.

On Monday, an official ribbon-cutting ceremony was held where local officials were present.

The upgrades enhance safety for pedestrians and drivers by implementing a variety of infrastructure improvements, including a modernized traffic signal with Accessible Pedestrian Signals (APS), updated curb ramps and sidewalks for full ADA compliance, a center turning lane from Fairmount Avenue to Montclair Avenue, and approximately 1,200 feet of roadway improvements and realignment.

“I thank Middlesex County for working with my administration to install this new traffic light at Oak Tree Road and Warwick Road,” Mayor Sam Joshi said. “This is a step towards improved safety for our residents and the facilitation of efficient traffic flow.”

“Through our Vision Zero Action Plan and our partnership with municipalities like Edison, we’re committed to eliminating preventable traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries,” Middlesex County Commissioner Charles Kenny, chair of the Transportation Committee said.

"This new traffic light system at the intersection of Oak Tree and Warwick Road represents an essential step in that mission.”
