EDISON, NJ — Smoke from the Canadian wildfires have hit the township and borough, and as a result, there's a smoke haze, township officials said.

Officials sent an alert to residents on Tuesday evening. Residents will see a hazy sky and smell an odor of smoke. "These conditions are expected to remain in our area through tomorrow. There is no fire within the township," Edison officials said.

"There is nothing that can be done at this time. It is believed the condition will lessen with time. If you are experiencing adverse reactions to the smoke, please remain indoors," Metuchen officials said. "If you develop any difficulty breathing call 911. "
