Students Taken To Hospital Following School Bus Crash In Edison, Police Say

EDISON, NJ — Multiple students were taken to a hospital on Monday after a driver suffered a medical episode and hit a school bus, Edison Township Police told Patch.

At 2:38 p.m. on Monday, police said a driver became lightheaded when she suffered a medical episode and ran into a school bus on New Durham Road.

Following the crash, police said six students were brought to the hospital to be checked out due to complaints of pain, though there appeared to be no major injuries.

According to police, the school bus was from Edison Success Academy, an alternative school in the Edison Public School District that allows students to complete their high school education via a “competency-based model while being exposed to different post-secondary career pathways.”

Patch has reached out to the school district for further information on the incident.

According to a report from NJ.com, a district spokesperson said the bus involved in the crash was a contracted bus, and that the district is awaiting the final police report.
