Traffic Signal At Metuchen's Grove Intersection To Be Upgraded
The new changes are expected to be implemented before the end of the summer, Borough officials said.
METUCHEN, NJ – The New Jersey Department of Transportation has informed the borough it will be upgrading the traffic signal at the intersection of Grove Avenue and Middlesex Avenue, Mayor Jonathan M Busch said.
The borough for long has said that an upgrade was needed as making a left onto Middlesex from Grove takes a lot of time, causing traffic jams in the area.
The upgrades will include an exclusive left signal for vehicles on Grove that are waiting to turn left onto Middlesex Ave., in both directions, Busch said.

“We expect that this upgrade will go a long way toward alleviating unnecessary back-ups on Grove Avenue; and making this busy intersection safer for both pedestrians and drivers,” Busch said in a Facebook post.
Busch thanked District 18 legislators Sen. Patrick Diegnan, Assemblyman Robert Karabinchak and Assemblyman Sterley Stanley for helping to NJDOT’s approval.
