Upgraded Parking Meters Installed In Metuchen
The days of fishing around in your cupholder for coins is over in Metuchen.
METUCHEN, NJ — Frantically searching in the cup holder for a few extra coins will soon be a thing of the past in Metuchen: new, modernized parking meters are being installed in the borough.
Well, it might not be over for all. The new meters accept both credit cards and coins. In a few weeks, they're also expected to accept smart phone payments.
The smart parking meters were first announced back in February when the council approved a plan to upgrade the Main Street meters. There are about 500 in the business district; 218 were approved for purchase.
