Winter Weather Advisory, Changes In Trash Pickup Due To Snowstorm In Edison

A snowstorm is expected to bring as much as 5 inches of snow to the township on Friday.

EDISON, NJ - A winter weather advisory has been issued in Edison for Friday, as a winter storm is expected to hit New Jersey.

Up to 6 inches of snow alongside treacherous driving conditions is expected for Friday, according to the weather forecast.

The advisory has been issued from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday. A total of 3 to 5 inches of snow is expected in the Township, according to the National Weather Service.

There will be no garbage of Section 5 recycling pickup on Friday due to the impending storm. All waste and recycling will now be picked up on Saturday.

A winter weather advisory is in place for East Brunswick with the National Weather Service predicting total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches in the township.

Temperatures will rapidly drop into the teens late Friday night and any untreated roads will become icy and dangerous, the NWS said.

A hazardous weather outlook is also in place as snow and/or sleet accumulation may result in significant travel disruptions on Friday, the NSW said.

Here’s the latest forecast:

  • Friday: Snow, mainly after 8 a.m. High near 31. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.
  • Friday Night: Snow likely, mainly before 11 p.m. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 15. North wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
  • Saturday: Areas of blowing snow after 8 a.m. Increasing clouds, with a high near 24. Blustery, with a northwest wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph.
