Man Faces Attempted Murder Charge in Englewood Attack
An Englewood man faces an attempted murder charge after he attacked another city man in a bloody fight near West Englewood Avenue and Lafayette Place, leaving him hospitalized with serious injuries Thursday, authorities said.
Derrick Rose, 53, and the 54-year-old victim were arguing when Rose struck him in the head with a pipe, according to Police Chief Arthur O'Keefe.

BergenPAC has begun work to transform a former recording studio into a performing arts school, northjersey.com reported.
Much of the $150,000 in renovations will go toward moving walls and installing new carpet for the school, a spokeswoman said in the report. BergenPAC took over the space Jan. 1.

Authorities have charged an Englewood man in a plot to rob a local liquor store distributor after the merchant told Teaneck police he was being followed by would-be bandits, the prosecutor's office said Monday.
Dammen McDuffie, 38, was charged Friday with stalking, conspiracy to commit robbery and attempt to commit robbery. Another unidentified man remains at large, authorities said.
Englewood Mayor Frank Huttle III and At-Large Councilwoman Lynne H. Algrant took the oath of office Tuesday and were elected council president and president pro tempore, respectively, when the Englewood City Council held its annual reorganization meeting.
Huttle and Algrant were both reelected in November when both ran unopposed.
“I’m grateful for the support of the residents of Englewood, and I continue to strive to earn that support every day,” Algrant said. “These last few years and next few are a very strange time to be in elective office and in public [service]. Trust and confidence in government are at historic lows.”
