Englewood Nonprofit Mourns Passing Of Board President
The Community Chest is establishing a fund named after Barbara Strauss, president of its board of managers, who died last month.

ENGLEWOOD, NJ — Described as a "consummate professional," Barbara Strauss shared her persistent passion for the work and outreach of The Community Chest with others, especially its focus on helping communities revert food insecurity, the Englewood nonprofit said in a news release.
Strauss, an Englewood Cliffs resident who served as president of the nonprofit's board of managers for 14 months and an active board member for nine years, passed away last month and will now have a fund established in her name, a news release from the nonprofit said.
Strauss was chair of the events and development committees, and vice president, treasurer and secretary on the nonprofit's managing board. She and her husband, Tom Manolio, received the nonprofit's outstanding volunteer award in 2020.

"The Community Chest plans to memorialize the valuable work Barbara did with us by establishing a fund in her name. We know she would want others to continue supporting the work we undertake that was so important to her personally," Shelly Wimpfheimer, nonprofit executive director, said.
