Official Results Give Republican Englewood Cliffs Council Win

Unofficial election results released Nov. 6 gave the Democratic candidate a slim lead on the Republican former council member.

An Englewood Cliffs Republican has retaken a council seat based on new official election results released by county clerk’s office Wednesday.

According to the results, former councilman Ramon Ferro beat Democrat Nora Jobson by 36 votes. Ferro captured 1,122 votes to Jobson’s 1,086. Results released Nov. 6 gave Jobson a slim 963-928 lead over Ferro.

Ferro’s win will again mean the governing body will have five Democrats and one Republican.

At a candidates debate in October, Ferro said he wanted to see an investigation into the borough's fire siren replacement, and sought to be a “watchdog” on the governing body.

Ferro said he expected to clash with the Democratic council majority and worried they would attempt to shut him out of key decisions, according to a northjersey.com report.

“Right now they’re playing ‘nice guy’ with me. I’m sure we’re going to be fighting later,” he said in the report.
