Sunday Concerts and Shakespeare at Overpeck Park Start Aug. 1

There will be music and Shakespear performances every Sunday for the rest of the month at Overpeck Park.

ENGLEWOOD, NJ — Starting Aug. 1, there will be music and Shakespear performances every Sunday at Overpeck Park for the rest of the month.

Black Box Performing Arts Center and the Bergen Community College will be hosting the concert series "Play On: Music and Shakespeare at the Park."

Musical acts from Bergen County and the surrounding area will perform between 3 and 6 p.m., showcasing talent covering a diverse array of musical genres. The concert lineup features area singer-songwriters as well as bands performing in an unplugged acoustic format.

A performance of "As You Like It" will follow most concerts at 8 p.m., with Hamlet being featured on August 8.

  • Aug. 1: Melissa Cherie (singer/songwriter) / Divinity Montijo (pop/R&B)
  • Aug. 8: Ginny Lackey & the Hi Fi Band (pop/rock) / Esti Mellul (singer/songwriter) / Imina Adonri of Englewood Idol (soul/R&B)
  • Aug. 15: Hidden Figures (unplugged singer/songwriter rock), Maurice Cobb (singer/songwriter, jazz, blues)
  • Aug. 22: Amanda Brite (singer/songwriter) /Dan Sheehan’s Rising Seas (topical rock/soul) /Andy Krikun & Jeff Doctorow (singer/songwriter)
  • Aug. 29: Rain date

Admission to all events is free. Attendees should bring their own lawn chairs and blankets.
