Utility Upgrade Planned in Englewood

Work at North Dean Street facility expected to last about a year.

Public Service Electric and Gas will begin work to upgrade transmission lines at its Englewood substation early next month, the company said in a statement.

"The upgrade at Englewood Substation is part of PSE&G’s continued commitment to invest in infrastructure upgrades for the region and throughout PSE&G’s service territory.  This upgrade will ensure continued safe, reliable utility service for area residents and business owners," the company said.

Utility service is expected to continue as normal during the project, and no major road closures are planned. Work at the North Dean Street facility will last until about December 2013, according to the company.

"To expedite this work, PSE&G has scheduled extended work-hours Monday through Saturday.  It should be noted that the construction dates and scheduled work-hours identified are tentative and subject to minimal variations due to the construction process," the statement said.

The project comes amid a series of infrastructure upgrades on lines and substations serving Englewood and other nearby towns. PSE&G is also continuing a project to expand the Bergenfield substation, near the Teaneck Armory, and a power substation in Teaneck.
