Bergen County Couple Charged in Sexual Assault Case

Police say the husband allegedly engaged in inappropriate sexual activity with a minor while his wife was aware of the abuse.

A New Milford couple face numerous charges after police say the husband allegedly engaged in inappropriate sexual activity with a minor while his wife was aware of the abuse.

Freddy Guzman, 36, and Karem Guzman, 36, of Lenox Avenue were arrested Thursday after the alleged victim, now 20-years-old, told the Teaneck Police Department Guzman engaged in inappropriate sexual activity with her while she was between the ages of 12 and 16, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said.

Arrangements were made for the victim to be interviewed by a detective from the Special Victims Unit at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office in Paramus, where the victim provided specific details regarding what had occurred with Guzman.
