Crime Rates Rise in Fair Lawn, Saddle Brook
Fair Lawn and Saddle Brook saw more incidents of both violent and nonviolent crime in the first half of 2014 compared to 2013.

New Jersey State Police have released their Uniform Crime Report for the first two quarters of 2014. According to their reports, Fair Lawn’s overall crime index has risen from 145 to 166 in the last year, a 14 percent increase in crime. Saddle Brook’s crime index rose from 127 to 138.
Fair Lawn saw 6 incidents of violent crime between January and June of 2013, and 12 such incidents in the same period of 2014. Despite the small numbers, that’s a 100 percent increase in violent crime. Nonviolent crime increased by 11 percent: Fair Lawn Police reported 139 nonviolent crimes in the first half of 2013, and 154 in the first half of 2014.
Saddle Brook had only one incident of violent crime in the first half of 2013, but 4 in the same period of 2014, making a 300 percent increase in violent crime. Nonviolent crime increased by 6 percent: from 126 instances in the first half of 2013 to 134 instances in the first half of 2014.
