Fair Lawn Man Stole $250K From Real Estate Investor: Prosecutor

FAIR LAWN, NJ — A borough man was arrested and charged with theft after authorities said he took $250,000 from an investor and used it for himself.

Wilfred Wener, 56, of Fair Lawn was charged with theft by deception after an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, said Prosecutor Mark Musella.

The prosecutor's office Financial Crimes Unit got a complaint from one of Werner's investors. The individual had given Werner $250,000 for a real estate investment, Musella said.

Werner used the money "for his own personal gain," the prosecutor said.

Werner was arrested Tuesday. He is scheduled to appear in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court Aug. 7.
