Fair Lawn PD Accepting Applications For Citizen Police Academy
The next class will begin on Feb. 6, 2020.
FAIR LAWN, NJ - Fair Lawn Police Department is accepting applications to its 2020 Citizen Police Academy.
Fair Lawn residents can submit applications through Jan. 4, 2020 and the academy will begin on Feb. 6.
The weekly program will include classes about gang awareness, firearm awareness & safety, self-defense, internet safety, fraud awareness & investigations, response to active attacks, drug awareness, crime prevention and traffic safety, according to the police department.

The academy class will also become familiarized with the different emergency services in Fair Lawn, will see demonstrations by the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department’s Bomb Squad & K-9 Units, along with the Bergen County SWAT Team and will receive tours of municipal & county facilities, according to the police department.
The class is limited to 24 students and background investigations will be conducted before an applicant is accepted into the academy. Applications can be picked up at Fair Lawn Police Headquarters, 8-01 Fair Lawn Avenue.
