Fair Lawn's U12A softball team took the championship in the 2013 Midland Park Blast Off Tournament this past weekend. The team has had success in this particular tournament previously, coming in as Runners Up in 2011. This year Fair Lawn faced and beat teams from Oakland, Wyckoff, Wayne and Northern Valley, as well as their longtime rivals Washington Township. Fair Lawn ousted the team with a 5-3 victory in the semi-final round. To take home the trophy, the team played four games on Sunday. It was a long day, but the team found its last burst of energy and went on a rally of doubles by several players to win over Westwood 8-3 in the championship. This win caps off the team's local tournament run. Their next tournament is July's Bash at the Beach tournament in Westerly, Rhode Island.
