FAIR LAWN, NJ —A borough woman was charged with driving while intoxicated after she crashed her car into a telephone pole recently. Four police officers responded to Plaza Road at Howard Avenue just after 11 a.m. Nov. 27 and arrested the driver, Elena Petrenko, 56, after she failed a roadside sobriety test, said Sgt. Brian Metzler. In addition to the DWI charge, Petrenko was charged with reckless driving and having an alcoholic beverage inside a motor vehicle.
