Legislators Call For Train Fare Hike Repeal
The New Jersey State Assembly passed a resolution recommending the recent fare hike on Pascack Valley, Main and Bergen Line trains be rescinded.

A resolution passed by the New Jersey State Assembly Thursday recommends rescinding the recent fare increases on NJ Transit's Pascack Valley, Main and Bergen train lines.
A ticket for a trip from some Bergen and Main line stations to Penn Station increased by $.75 March 1 because of an agreement between NJ Transit and Metro-North. The cost of a monthly pass increased by $23. NJ Transit has raised fares three times since 2005
The resolution was sponsored by District 38 Assemblywoman Connie Wagner, Assemblyman Timothy Eustace and several legislators from other districts.

"Transportation and housing costs are outpacing the growth of median household income, and public officials should avoid measures that place additional financial burdens on the residents of this state," Wagner said in a press release. "Considering such worries, NJ Transit should immediately rescind the fare increase on the Main, Bergen County, and Pascack Valley commuter rail lines."
