Man Stabs Pedestrian With Screwdriver During Fight At Bergen County Intersection: Police

A man punctured a pedestrian with a screwdriver during a fight at a Bergen County intersection last week, police said.

HACKENSACK, NJ — A passenger in a vehicle stabbed a pedestrian with a screwdriver during a fight at a Bergen County intersection last Friday, police said.

Agustin Fuentes-Sanchez, 55, of Rochelle Park, was arrested on assault and weapons charges, said the Hackensack Police Department.

Police said that last Friday, they headed to the area of Essex Street near Porter Avenue for a report of a fight in progress.

Investigators determined that a 49-year-old man was walking across Porter Avenue in front of a vehicle exiting onto Essex Street, causing the vehicle to stop abruptly, police said.

The pedestrian kicked the vehicle, police said. Then, Fuentes-Sanchez, who was a passenger in the vehicle, assaulted the victim with a screwdriver, police said.

The victim sustained a minor puncture wound and was transported to a local hospital for treatment, police said.

Fuentes-Sanchez was charged with third-degree aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.

He was taken to the Bergen County Jail on a complaint warrant, awaiting his initial appearance at Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, police. said.
