Blackwell St. Artists Exhibition Opens Sunday at Pine Gallery

A group exhibit featuring the works of 11 artists from the Dover-based Blackwell St. Center for the Arts will run Sunday, Jan. 13 through Thursday, Feb. 28 at the Fair Lawn public library's Pine Gallery.

The exhibit, titled "Opaline," contains an assemblage of collage, oil, pastel, photography and watercolor pieces by Blackwell St. artists Linda Aldrich, Peggy Dressel, David Gruol, Mary Guidetti, Annette Hanna, Chris Kappmeier, John Power, Elaine Provost, Victoria Starger, Joseph Terrone and Nora Winn. 

The Blackwell St. Center for the Arts is a cooperative gallery founded in 1983 by a group of local artists interested in establishing a permanent space in which to exhibit their work. In 1989, the BCSA became a non-profit with the added aim of educating the public through lectures, seminars, workshops and community programs about fine art.

The group, which was named "Outstanding Arts Organization for 2011" by the Arts Council of the Morris area, exhibits in public places and has mounted exhibits at Lever House Gallery in New York City, Johnson & Johnson, Nabisco, and the Cork Gallery in New York City.

An opening reception for their Fair Lawn exhibit will be held Sunday, Jan. 13 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Pine Gallery.
