Woman Killed Crossing Rt. 46 In Elmwood Park Thursday: Police

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A woman died after she was struck by a truck while crossing Route 46 Thursday night, police said.

The 27-year-old Passaic woman was crossing the highway near 7-Eleven when she was hit by a Ford pickup truck, said Elmwood Park Police Chief Michael Foligno.

No one else was injured and no charges are expected to be filed against the Ford's driver, Foligno said.

The accident closed Route 46 in both directions Thursday shortly after 8:30 p.m., according to 511nj.org, the state's emergency transportation notification system.

The exit ramp at exit 157 to Elmwood Park on the Garden State Parkway was also closed and detoured to exit 157 as a result of the crash, according to the website.
