Fair Lawn High's 'Runaways' Wins Three More Awards
Fair Lawn High School's musical theater production of "Runaways" has brought home a total of eight awards.

Fair Lawn High School's production of "Runaways" recently won three Metropolitan High School Theater Awards, bringing the total number of awards for the musical to eight this year.
The school's Metro Awards included "outstanding chorus," "outstanding student orchestra" and "outstanding direction" for Director John Giresi. They also brought home five honors from the the Bucks County Playhouse Student Theater Festival in April.
"It's one of the biggest award-winners that we've had," Giresi said. "It was a very successful for us, artistically."

"Runaways" was nominated for a total of 27 awards, the highest number in the school's history.
The show ran from March 21 to 24 and included 43 segments in two acts. This gave a large number of students an opportunity to show off their skills, instead of just a few playing lead roles, Giresi said.

"The material is very lively," he said. "It's rich and deep and provide an incredible showcase for the students to demonstrate their talents."
The students are going to get one last honor for their production at Tuesday's council meeting, where they will perform and receive a proclamation from officials honoring their achievements.
