Saddle Brook Driver Involved In Crash Where Bystandards Save Man

2 bystanders and police physically lifted the car off the man.

SADDLE BROOK, NJ —A borough woman was involved in a crash where a man was pinned under a car and rescued by police and bystanders, New Brunswick police said.

The driver, Gilnette Brown, 36, of Saddle Brook has not been charged, police said.

The pedestrian, 37-year-old Mauricio Martinez, was struck and pinned underneath a car near Easton Avenue and Albany Street just after midnight Sunday morning. One bystander, a doctor from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, said they needed to free Martinez quickly because the car was resting on his chest and could be impeding his breathing, police said.
