Shoplifting At ShopRite, Narcotics Arrests: Fair Lawn Blotter

Fair Lawn police responded to a number of incidents over the past week, including shoplifting, driving while intoxicated and drug possession

FAIR LAWN, NJ - Fair Lawn police responded to a number of incidents over the past week, including shoplifting, driving while intoxicated and drug possession.

10/22/2019 Narcotics

At 2:35 p.m., P.O. Tiller Uriarte initiated a motor vehicle stop on River Road at Hopper Avenue
and arrested the operator, a 27-year-old Lodi woman, after she attempted to hide a prescription bottle of medication from the officer, then refused to exit the vehicle when ordered and had to be forced from the vehicle to be placed under arrest. She was found to have 412 xanax pills without a prescription. She was released after being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), possession of CDS with intent to distribute, obstruction, resisting arrest, hand-held cell phone us during operation, operating with a suspended license & operating unlicensed.

At 12:55 a.m., P.O. Geovanny Buitron initiated a motor vehicle stop on Route 208 at Promenade Boulevard and arrested the operator, a 44-year-old Wyckoff man, after he failed a roadside sobriety test. He was released to a responsible adult after being charged with failure to maintain a single lane, careless driving, failure to possess a vehicle registration card, driving while intoxicated & refusal to submit breath samples.

10/25/2019 Narcotics

At 1:23 p.m., S.P.O. Jose Valentin, P.O. William Hickey & P.O. Brad Pindyck detained a 13
year old male student at Thomas Jefferson Middle School, 35-01 Morlot Avenue, after he was found with a prescription bottle with suspected marijuana inside. He was released to a parent and will be charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance on a juvenile petition with family court.

10/25/2019 Shoplifting

At 10:20 p.m., P.O. Javier Gutierrez responded to Shoprite, 17-17 River Road, and arrested a 35-year-old Prospect Park woman, after she was detained by store loss prevention with unpaid items totaling $77.71 hidden in her purse. She was released after being charged with shoplifting.

10/26/2019 Shoplifting

At 6:38 p.m., P.O. Juan Rodriguez responded to Shoprite, 17-17 River Road, after a report of
a shoplifter who left the store and arrested a 43-year-old Paterson man after he located him on a bicycle in the parking lot with unpaid items, totaling $66.74, in a bag he was carrying. He was released after being charged with shoplifting.

10/26/2019 Narcotics

At 11:53 p.m., P.O. John Rovetto initiated a motor vehicle stop on Broadway at Banta Place and arrested the operator, an 18-year-old Elmwood Park man and a 17 year old female from Elmwood Park, after a suspected cannabis THC vape cartridge was located inside the vehicle.
Bueno was released after being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), failure to signal a lane change & maintenance of vehicle lamps. The juvenile female will be charged on a juvenile petition with possession of CDS in family court.
