Threat Prompts Increased Police Presence At Fair Lawn School
A threat against a borough school was found in writing Monday, said Superintendent Nickolas Norcia.
FAIR LAWN, NJ — Additional police were assigned to patrol Thomas Jefferson Middle School Tuesday following a threat that was made against the school Monday afternoon, officials announced.
Authorities found a written threat made against the school after school was dismissed for the day Monday, Superintendent Nicholas Norcia said.
The police department recommended additional police be assigned to the school following an investigation.

Norcia said the decision was made to keep the school open, but with the increased police presence.
"Along with the continued partnership between the Fair Lawn Administration and the Fair Lawn Police Department, we will continue to follow-up on any concerns reported and take all appropriate action to keep our students safe, as this is an ongoing investigation," Norcia said.

Norcia did not provide specific information about the threat. He encouraged parents to talk to their kids and stress the "severe consequences that can result" from making threatening statements.
"We will continue to work diligently to ensure the safety of our students and staff," Norcia said.
