Your Candidates: State Senate and Assembly
A new legislative district brings new slate of candidates
After the 2010 census was completed came a statewide redistricting for the senate and assembly in Trenton. And with that came the move of River Edge and Oradell to District 38 and a new group of candidates.
State Senate
Running for a two-year Senate term is incumbent Robert Gordon (D) and Bergen County Freeholder John Driscoll (R).

Gordon, 60 of Fair Lawn, seeks his second term in the Senate. He currently serves on three Senate committees: Environment and Energy Committee, State Government, Wagering, Tourism and Historic Preservation Committee and Health, Human Services and Senior Services Committee.
Driscoll, 46, of Paramus, has been a Bergen County Freeholder since 2010 and currently serves as chairman. He serves on the following committees and boards: Human Services, Organizational and Internal Affairs, Bergen County School of Estimates, Bergen Community College and Special Services School District.

State Assembly
With two two-year Assembly seats available, the ballot will feature five candidates: Republicans Fernando Alonso and Hawthorne Mayor Richard Goldberg; Libertarian Vinko Grskovic; and Democrats Maywood Mayor Timothy Eustace and incumbent Assemblywoman Connie Wagner.
Eustace, 54, is a chiropractor in private practice, served as president of the Maywood Chamber of Commerce and served as a councilman in the borough for 10 years and has been mayor for four years.
Wagner, 62, is a former Paramus High School guidance counselor and member of the Assembly since 2008. She serves on the following committees: Health and Senior Services, Human Services and Transportation, Public Works and Independent Authorities.
Alonso, 53, is a professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University, and Goldberg, 57, has been Mayor for the past three years and was a councilman for 11 years prior. During that time he served as council president for seven years and two years as vice president. Professionally he is in the precious metals business and earned his degrees in business and economics from LaSalle College.
Grskovic is a graduate of Stevens Institute of Technology, and is the senior solutions engineer at Vello Systems, a privately held telecommunications agency in New York.
