County Seeking Grant to Support Tours of Hunterdon County Courthouse (tapinto.net) — Flemington’s historic Hunterdon County Courthouse on Main Street is becoming a bigger cultural hub, and the county is seeking a $7,500 state grant to expand self-guided tours there. The building now hosts exhibits, performances, and free by-appointment tours, with a new African American history exhibit on Black women’s headwear scheduled from mid-January through February.

N.J. man detained by ICE for 9 months goes home for Christmas (nj.com subscription) — A Flemington husband and father, Karim Daoud, is back home with his family after spending more than nine months in ICE detention, following an appointment for work authorization documents. Hunterdon County authorities inspect businesses for credit card skimming devices (wrnjradio.com) — Flemington Borough police joined county and neighboring departments to inspect local businesses for hidden credit card skimming devices, aiming to protect residents from financial fraud. Authorities explain how to spot tampered terminals, recommend safer payment methods, and invite businesses to request further inspections through local police or the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office.
   

4. Girls fencing Top 10 for Dec. 26: The states best remain sharp after Christmas (nj.com subscription) — Flemington’s Hunterdon Central High School gets a nod as the host site of last March’s Individual Fencing State Championships, highlighted in a statewide girls fencing Top 10 update. The rankings recap how New Jersey’s best programs are faring after the Christmas break, with several North and Central Jersey teams holding or improving their positions as the season resumes.
