About Town: Fire Chiefs and Table Flippers, Housewife in the House

Party for a Fire Chief a wee weekend washout, and A Real New Jersey housewife coming to town tonight.

Saturday night was fabulous. Patch attended a dinner at the Stony Hill Inn in Hackensack in honor of Fire Chief Jeff Silver from Firehouse No. 1 on lower Main St. Chief Silver, his wife Esther, and their two lovely girls, Sarah and Elizabeth, had a great time laughing and dancing the night away with friends.

Whenever the Fire Department throws a party, a good time is sure to be had by all, especially when one of their own is being honored. Congratulations to Chief Silver, and a special nod of thanks to Esther and the girls who have eaten many dinners alone, and have attended many events alone, so that Jeff can serve the residents of Fort Lee.

Nothing went our way on Sunday. Our first stop was the Spring Tide at Mrs. Kearney’s Tavern at the Alpine Boat Basin. If you were anywhere near the Palisades Sunday, then you know that it was covered in a thick, seemingly impenetrable fog. As we made our way down to the riverfront, we couldn’t see more than five yards in front of us. Not wanting to drive off the side of the cliff, we decided to turn around and abandon our plans.

So over the river and through the foggy woods, we made our way back to civilization and attended Arbor Day in neighboring Leonia. Because of earlier rain, all events were moved inside to their recreation center. Lovely as it was, due to the stifling, muggy heat and the amount of bodies in attendance, we didn’t last long there. That’s when we decided it was time to move outdoors and hit the Madonna Carnival. As soon as we stepped out of the minivan, that’s when the skies decided to open and it began to pour. Just in case we thought it might be a passing shower, some thunder and a few bolts of lightning assured us that it was time to go home.

That’s when we decided to undertake that oft-overlooked task of checking our spam file. We culled through a few hundred Viagra advertisements, a few dozen notices that we won the European lottery and five email scams that begin, “Dearest.” That’s when this housewife of Fort Lee, New Jersey, found the notice that the “Housewife of New Jersey” was coming to Fort Lee.

Yes, table-flipper extraordinaire and bubbies expert, Teresa Giudice, is appearing at our very own Tribecca Night Club tonight to promote her new cookbook, Fabulicious!-- sure to make every dinner flippalicious.

Tribecca is located at 2027 Lemoine Avenue in Fort Lee. Call 201-679-5966 or 201-461-7744 for tickets or information.

If you don’t have the $75 to shell out to party one-on-one with that housewife, you know how much it will cost you to party with this housewife? For a bottle of wine, we’ll dish, we’ll dine and you’ll even get a picture and autograph on the dog-stained red carpet that leads from the mud room to the playroom. All proceeds will be drunk. And so will we.
