BOE and Mayor and Council to Hold Meetings, Another Candidates Forum and a Little Bit of Culture

Number one:

The Fort Lee Board of Education will hold it’s regular business meeting Monday at School No. 1. Expect the agenda to be posted by noon Monday on the school district’s website. According to Fort Lee High School Athletic Director Pat Ambrosio, Fort Lee High School junior baseball player Ross Fasman will be honored at the meeting for his actions aboard a flight from Florida last week in which he took potentially life-saving measures to help a fellow diabetic and complete stranger suffering from diabetic shock. In an email Friday, Superintendent Raymond Bandlow said, β€œwe have not yet confirmed his attendance.”

Number two:

In lieu of its monthly meeting, the United Republican Club of Fort Lee has invited all six candidates running for the Fort Lee Board of Education to give a brief summary of their platform and qualifications. Club member Martha Cohen will moderate. There will also be a Q&A with the audience. The event is open to club members and their guests, and light refreshments with be served. The event takes place Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Fort Lee Public Library.

Number three:

Also on Tuesday the Fort Lee Historical Society is a presentation by member and Fort Lee Artist Guild President William Camal at the . Camal will speak on his life in art, and he will work on a full-scale pastel seascape, which will be presented to a member of the audience at the end of the program. Camal was an art director for a Manhattan-based fashion corporation for many years and was the Cultural Director of the Fort Lee Public Library until his recent retirement. Β The program is open to the public and will follow the historical society’s monthly meeting at 7 p.m. at the Fort Lee Museum at 1588 Palisade Avenue.Β  For more information call the Fort Lee Museum at 201-592-3580 or visit www.thefortleehistoricalsociety.org.

The Fort Lee Mayor and Council will hold its regular meeting Thursday at 8 p.m. at Borough Hall’s Council Chamber, although the governing body’s executive session was cancelled last week due to a lack of agenda. The agenda for the meeting should be available on the borough’s website by 3 p.m. on Wednesday.


Number five:Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β 

And the All Seasons Chamber Playersβ€”one of New Jersey’s most popular and active chamber music ensemblesβ€”will perform its new spring concert on Sunday afternoon, April 17 at 2:30 p.m. at the Fort Lee Public Library. Admission is free. Doors will open at 2:00 p.m. for early seating, and a reception will be held at intermission. For more information call the library at 201-592-3614.

And don’t forget, this week is National Library Week, and library fines and late fees will be waived all week or put your fee toward the Japan Earthquake Relief Fund. Your choice. Either way, drop by the library this week!
