BOE to Meet Post-School Year, Shakespeare, Outdoor Movies and More this Week

Here is a look at five things you should know about and/or might not want to miss this week:
Number one:
Fort Lee students may be on summer vacation this week, having finished school or even graduated last week, but that doesnβt mean the Fort Lee Board of Education is.

The BOE meets Monday at 8 p.m. at the Fort Lee School No. 1 library for its regular business meeting.

Meanwhile, over at Borough Hall, the Fort Lee Zoning Board also meets Monday at 7:30 p.m. in Council Chambers.

Number three:
"Shakespeare in the Park,β a series of outdoor Shakespearean performances in Monument Park by the Hudson Shakespeare Company, continues Tuesday.
The second performance in the series, the troupe gives a repeat performance of βA Midsummer Night's Dreamβ starting at 7:30 p.m. in the park adjacent to the Fort Lee Museum. Upcoming Tuesday performances include βHenry Vβ and βTymon of Athens.β
Performances are free, but donβt forget to bring your chairs and/or blankets.

Number four:Β
Also kicking off this week is Music and Movies Under the Stars at the Fort Lee Community Center. The weekly event will take place Saturday evenings/nights through Labor Day weekend.
Music is from 7 to 8:30 p.m., and the movies start at sunset. Again, bring a blanket or lawn chair because seating is expected to be limited. Programs will take place indoors in the event of rain.
Saturdayβs program features the Jumpers Orchestra and the 1949 WWII classic, Sands of Iwo Jima. Before the film, there will be a special presentation by the niece of Marine Sgt. John Basilone, who will talk about her uncle's heroism. Sgt. Basilone, a New Jersey native who was killed in action at Iwo Jima, was awarded the Medal of Honor and inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame.
Number five:
And on Sunday, four Fort Lee churchesβFirst Reformed Church of the Palisades, Bethany Well Church, Fort Lee Gospel Church and Maranatha Grace Fort Leeβwill hold a joint worship service at the Lewis F. Cole Middle School field at 11 a.m. in what they're calling the .
The event is open to the public, all are welcome and lunch will be served.
