Calling All Starving Artists: Mahwah Venue Wants You

Field of Creams Cafe is looking for performers

Local musicians, comedians and performers have a new venue looking for talent.

The owner of Field of Creams Café, the eatery on the grounds of Continental Soldiers Field on Route 202 in Mahwah is beginning an outdoor performance series, and is looking for acts.

“We are looking for starving artists, and we will feed them to perform,” said owner Greg Tonnon.

“Really, we want to provide up-and-comers and other passionate performers with a place to get exposure, a place where people can come to see you” while providing park and café visitors with some entertainment under the pavilion, he said.

Field of Creams is looking for all types of musicians, from different genres, so long as the acts are family-friendly.

“We are open to musicians with all different aspirations,” added manager Patricia King.

“Whether they like to perform as a hobby, or are looking to pursue it.”

The café is flexible in terms of performance times and scheduling. Shows will start as soon as possible, and last the rest of the season, through mid-November.

“We attract a lot of different people here – we are right by fishing, hiking, a playground, a park, Ramapo Reservation, Ramapo College, and of course all of the games on the fields, so it’s a great place for people to perform for a diverse audience,” King said.

Interested performers should call 201-760-0535, drop by during business hours, or email fieldofcreams@live.com to send an audition tape or schedule an audition. More information is available at the Field of Creams website and the eatery's Facebook page.
