Fort Lee Burglary Suspect Arrested: Prosecutor

FORT LEE, NJ — A man was arrested in connection with a borough burglary, authorities announced.

Nicholas G. Torres, 37, of Passaic, was charged with four counts of burglary, said Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella. Torres was also charged in connection with commercial burglaries in Maywood, Oradell, Westwood, and Edison.

The prosecutor's office Special Investigations Squad began an investigation into a series of burglaries at real estate and doctors' offices in Bergen and Middlesex counties in May 2019, Torres said.

All the burglaries seemed to have the same modus operandi, Musella said.

Detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office and the Oradell, Westwood, and Edison police departments executed a search warrant at Torres' home, the prosecutor said.

Torres was also charged with theft and possession of burglar's tools, Musella said. Burglary and theft charges against Torres are pending against Torres in Middlesex County.
